For our purposes we add few more definitions to get some gut feeling what this "vibe" is:

*Vibe is the energy of the interaction

*Vibe is the athmosphere of the interaction

*Vibe is the mood of the interaction

To think about it, let's try to be more precise while defining this. If we talk about energy, aura or athmosphere it's nothing that is clear for all of us. You could get the idea but here's another try:

The mood/athmosphere is the shared emotional state of the group.
Emotional state of the group is the sum of each active vibing energy
Emotional state of the group is ever changing by the act of vibing
Active vibing energy is the energy one person projects to interaction. This energy is his signature vibe.

Every person who participates in the interaction projects his own vibe. The important thing to realize is that each of us interprets his/her vibe a bit differently. Thus different people may sense the athmosphere a bit differently. Personal vibe is a product of many different things:

*Body language
*Current emotional state
*Current mindset
*Attitudes/beliefs
*Dressing/grooming
*Manners
*Way he/she speaks/drinks/looks in the eye/laughs/walks etc.
*Verbal context —> Situational relevance (SitRel)
*Physical context —> SitRel
*Energy level (tired/alert) —> SitRel
*Comprehension level —> SitRel

This is an endless list to think what things make up the personal signature vibe.

Most of us can read the vibe of the interaction. Those who can't are usually socially retarted. It is the utmost important skill for DJ to be good at.

Observing the mood is important but it should be automatic. If there was some advanced computer in the room observing social group and trying to deduce what the vibe is, it would look clues like are they laughing or are they serious. Facial expressions tell a lot of what is happening. The computer would have to look all the tiny details and even read all what is subcommunicated. Lucky we have that advanced computer in our brains and we use it everytime we socialize.

The goal for good vibing is to set good mood. That means setting up the positive emotional states in the group. There are many ways of achieving this.

Failing to contribute for the good mood is not good for your social success. The ideal social group operates under the positive emotional state. To be part of that group you must contribute that state when you can. For this you will use the three colours of DJ. This is your abstract tool to paint the good mood.
