It's NOT TRUE that you must get to know her as a person first. She must get to know you, she must have an IDEA of you. You must project your personality / identity to her. To become a person with strong identity, start living life passionately. Start some hobbies which you love (other than computer games / C++ programming / other nerd stuff) and see some world. Learn some new language or become a great cook. Girls will love you after you are someone with value. Design in your mind how you want your future to be. What hobbies have you taken and to what level have you advanced in them? How you dress is also statement to world. Do you prefer beer or wine? Small things make your character.
